Inserting the dove tails into the piece of Elm was a new experience for me. In order to do it first I had to do some research on just what the best way to do it would be, and just what kind of wood one would want to use. After I had found enough information of the process I decided that the best way for me to do it would be to use the router method. The router method is when you get a pattern for the size and shape of the dove tails that you want, and then you buy a special adapter for the plunge router that you are using. This special bit allows you to router out the correct sized hole in the wood and then transfer to the wood that you are going to insert in and then cut out the correct sized butterfly to insert into the dovetail. next I needed to decide on what type of wood I wanted the Butterfly to be, in the end I decided that the wood that I would insert into the elm would be a white pine)
