Dear Michael

 

I am writing to apply to the position of Facility Manager of the Fillmore Utah Intermountain Health Care Hospital. It is my understanding, from our past conversations, that you will be looking for a replacement, Facilities Manager come this April when you retire. I am currently enrolled to get my Bachelors of Science in Construction Management at SUU. I expect to complete all work for the Bachelor's degree come this December. It is my belief that my studying of Construction Management, along with the many years of experience that I have had working construction, and working in the upkeep of facilities, some of which I have done alongside you, makes me a strong candidate for the job.

 

My work in construction has been extremely diverse which I feel would make me perfect for the job. I have had hands on experience in everything from forming and finishing cement, to finish stain grade carpentry. Some things that I know that you perform for your job that I would be doing like, drywall patching, painting, and electrical fixes I have had a lot of experience in doing as well.

 

But my skills don’t just stop at being a well-diversified hired hand, most of the jobs that I have been on, I have been the Manager of the project giving me experience in Management. Even while I was in college I performed a finish carpentry project of my own design from start to completion. For one summer I was the head of grounds keeping for the Leavitt Group in Cedar City. This experience not only helped me learn what it takes to perform this type of work, but also taught me a great deal about organizing time, as well as delegating what needed to be delegated for maximal productivity.

 

I have briefly mentioned some of the skills and experiences that I possess that I believe would make me a good fit for this job.
